"Outside
Providence"
Last week the latest release
from the Farlley brothers debuted in 11th place with almost no completion and
negative reviews. The previews and ads led me to expect a fun comedy with little
substance. The movie was nothing like I expected! This is a great movie with
terrible marketing. At the beginning of the movie we basically learn that all of
the characters are jerks, dopers or uneducated slobs. By the end of the movie we
have a whole different perspective and understand that most of these are good
people trying to do the best they can with the hand life has dealt them. The
main character does a 180 degree turn in his life, not based on some event as is
typical in Hollywood but after a series of events over a period of a year that
eventually lead him to question his goals and redefine them. My only hope is
that word of mouth will sustain this movie and get it noticed. I have new
respect for the Farlley Brothers.
